Dawn Dorland teaches on the faculty of Writing Workshops Los Angeles and at the Downtown Women’s Center, serving the homeless women of Skid Row. Her debut novel-in-progress, Econoline, about generational poverty and American class ascent, has been recognized with fellowships and other support from Ragdale, the Vermont Studio Center, the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center, and Hambidge. Ms. Dorland graduated from the MFA-Fiction program at the University of Maryland in 2014, where she received full funding and won a teaching award. Her short fiction is published in Green Mountains Review online, The Drum, and collected in Paragraph; her essays are available on the GrubStreet blog. Dawn is a three-time presenter at GrubStreet’s Muse and the Marketplace conference and a Muse enthusiast generally.
