Melissa Faliveno is the associate editor of Poets & Writers Magazine. She has previously worked as an editor for an independent nonfiction press based in the Midwest, and in various editorial capacities for a major fiction publisher and two literary magazines. She is also a writer and book reviewer, having worked as a contributing features writer for Isthmus, an alternative weekly in Madison, Wisconsin, and has taught creative writing to high school students and incarcerated men in New York City. Melissa holds a BA in English and creative writing from the University of Wisconsin and an MFA in creative nonfiction from Sarah Lawrence College. Her fiction and nonfiction has appeared or is forthcoming in DIAGRAM, Din, the Green Mountains Review, and Lumina, among other publications. A retired roller derby skater, Melissa (otherwise known as Harlot Brontë) will also have an essay published in Derby Life, an anthology about modern women's roller derby forthcoming this spring. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, where she is at work on a collection of essays and plays in the indie rock band Self Help.
